Schmitz Family Farm
Storage & Freezing
Fresh berries will maintain their freshness in the refrigerator for several days. However, we would love to see you enjoying our berries year-round just like our family! Here are a few of the ways we enjoy our berries:
-
Flash freezing - We wash and dry our berries before placing them single layer on a cookie sheet with parchment paper. We then place the loaded cookie sheet in the freezer overnight. The berries will freeze individually. Once frozen, the berries can be placed in freezer bags and used until next year's harvest.
-
Jams and jellies - There is nothing better than enjoying blackberry jam or jelly on toasted sourdough bread. Making jam and jellies is a very easy process.
-
Frozen cobblers - We make and freeze cobblers prior to baking. Cobblers are best when sharing with family friends.
